Dear Members:

The Law Association received a request from the Hon. Attorney General to comment on the Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2017. In response, our Sub-Committee of Corporate Commercial and Conveyancing Attorneys (‘the Committee’), reviewed the proposed Bill and prepared the comments.

In the interest of expediency these general comments of the Committee, as well as an appendix with more detailed comments were submitted to the Attorney General today, Thursday 12 April, 2018. However, we have indicated to the Hon. Attorney General that the draft Bill and the Committee Comments would be circulated to our wider membership for your additional input. We will then revert to the Attorney General once we receive your feedback.
