Dear Members:
As part of our continuing legal education programme, the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago (LATT) will be hosting a Commercial Law Seminar/Webinar at the Association’s offices at Second Floor, Nos. 95-97 Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain on February 13, 2019 from 4.00pm to 6.00pm. The agenda for the seminar is attached hereto for your attention.
Our presenter will be Mr. Richard Clayton QC, a commercial litigator and arbitrator who has undertaken a wide range of advisory and litigation work in commercial law matters, which involve discrimination and freedom of information, local government and public procurement.
Mr. Richard Clayton QC has extensive experience in conducting matters before the Supreme Court in the United Kingdom and before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, and before the Courts in this jurisdiction including cases such as Surrat (2008), the successful apparent bias appeal to the Court of Appeal by the Leader of the Opposition, Basdeo Panday, in 2008 against his conviction for a breach of the Integrity in Public Life Act 1987 and, more recently, the Judicial and Legal Services Commission appeal concerning High Court appointments following the resignation of Marcia Ayers- Caesar and the cartel case brought against several construction companies and a former Minister. Chambers Directory 2019 describes Mr. Richard Clayton QC as “one of the finest minds at the Bar… an intellectual giant who is an asset to the Bar.”
