Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) Precaution in the Legal Profession

Dear Member,

You are reminded that extra precautions are strongly encouraged to be taken to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus 2019. The following is a list of precautions to be taken:

a. Wash your hands regularly;

b. Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing;

c. Avoid touching nose, eyes and mouth;

d. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early;

e. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze then dispose of the used tissue immediately.

f. Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19. Follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

g. Members are encouraged to mutually agree in writing to serve and/or exchange documents by electronic mail (where permissible) if and/or when the need arises to minimize human contact.

h. Thoroughly cook meat and eggs before consumption.

i. Stay tuned for updated travel restrictions issued by the Ministry of Health.

j. Ensure that most surfaces at your office/workplace are routinely cleaned and sanitized.

k. Develop a contingency plan for working at home and communicating electronically.

Members are encouraged to immediately seek medical attention if you experience the following symptoms:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Coughing
  • Fever
  • Acute diarrhoea

Including the following symptoms in severe cases:

  • Pneumonia
  • Severe acute respiratory syndrome
  • Kidney failure
