What are the Requirements for admission to practise law?
You must satisfy one of the follow requirements:
- Law degree from University of the West Indies (LLB) plus, Legal Education Certificate obtained after a two-year course at the Hugh Wooding Law School. Such persons are automatically accepted for admission to practise.
- Law degree from other recognised universities (including an external University of London degree) plus Legal Education Certificate (LEC) obtained after a two-year course at the Hugh Wooding Law School. Persons compete by examination for limited available places.
- Law degree from a recognised university (including an external University of London degree) plus Legal Practising Certificate (LPC)/Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC)/ Bar Vocational Course (BVC) and completion of a six months attachment.
- Overseas qualification as a practitioner (barrister, solicitor, attorney, etc.) plus Legal Education Certificate (LEC) obtained after a six-month course at the Hugh Wooding Law School.
