Media Release re: Mr. Timothy Straker QC

The remarks of a certain Attorney, which are being widely disseminated, to the effect that I refused to sign the requisite documents to permit Mr. Timothy Straker Q.C. to be admitted to practice law in Trinidad and Tobago and to represent his client today, 2nd November in the Court of Appeal, are false and knowingly calculated to misrepresent and denigrate the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr. Straker’s documentation was duly signed by the Honorary Secretary in his own right and on my behalf as President. At Mr. Straker’s application today before Mr. Justice Rampersad, to be admitted to practice, I personally appeared and consented to Mr. Straker’s application whilst welcoming him to the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago. That is a matter of record. Further still, having had the Petition consented to by the Law Association, Mr. Straker today appeared in the Court of Appeal on his client’s behalf.

Reginald T.A. Armour SC
President, Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago
Dated 2nd November, 2015
