No, you can’t. We cannot release any information if any complaints were made about an attorney or if an attorney is facing any disciplinary actions.
You can first verify the lawyer has been issued a practising certificate by contacting the Registrar at the Supreme Court at 868-62-TTLAW / 868-628-8529. If they have not been issued a practising certificate you may inform the Registrar or file a complaint with the Disciplinary Committee and refuse to have that lawyer continue to represent you. All lawyers practising in Trinidad and Tobago must have a valid practising certificate for the current law term. It is an offence to practise without a current valid practising certificate.
