Rights and expectations
As a Client you can expect your Attorney to abide by the Code of Ethics found at Part A of the Third Schedule of the Legal Profession Act Paragraphs 21-35.
Generally you should expect and are entitled to the following:
- The attorney must have a valid practising certificate which must be produced upon request
- To be dealt with in a fair and professional manner.
- Complete confidentiality between attorney and client
- An Attorney should not accept your case unless he/she can handle the task in an expeditious manner without any unmerited delays.
- An Attorney must inform you of all risks and issues involving or will be involved with your case, and shall always act in your best interest.
- An Attorney shall charge you fees that are fair and reasonable and in accordance with Part B of the Third Schedule paragraph 10 and provide an account thereof.
