Resumption of some services at the Registrar General’s Department, Port of Spain

Dear Members,

Further to our email to you of 30 August 2018, we wish to advise that the Registrar General’s Department (RGD) has been formally relocated from Huggins Building, South Quay to the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs, Government Campus Plaza, Richmond Street, Port of Spain.

There has been a resumption in the following services at the RGD, Port of Spain Office: Land Registry services such as registration of deeds (except for certified copies); Companies’ Registry services; and Civil Registry services such as applications for birth and death certificates.

Please note that land title searches have not resumed, and no manual and or electronic investigations of title can be carried out at present at the RGD, Port of Spain office. Persons are therefore limited to using the Land Registry’s Online Property Information Management System (PIMS Online) to conduct searches.

As previously stated, the RGD does not guarantee that the electronic database of title is a complete and accurate record of its manual title records, and as such the situation continues to be that title to land cannot be certified at this time.
