Dear Member:
The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Caribbean Branch will be hosting a week of arbitration law related activities scheduled to take place between 23rd and 28th April 2018.
The week will comprise CIArb training in arbitration and mediation for lawyers and non-lawyers as well as two conferences on international arbitration issues. The training programme will run from 23rd to 25th April 2018. A detailed programme is attached for your information.
The first conference is scheduled for 25th April 2018 and will address the fundamental workings of commercial arbitration proceedings. The conference aims to contribute to the development of domestic and international commercial arbitration in Guyana as well as the work of Caribbean arbitration practitioners on the domestic and international levels.
The second conference is scheduled for 26th and 27th April 2018. It will guide participants through each stage of an ICSID arbitration and update the participants on the latest developments in ICSID as well as best practices before ICSID Tribunals by reference to the most recent cases. It will also give an overview of ICSID’s current work to amend the ICSID rules, explaining the motivation for rule changes and the proposals being considered.
Given the nature of the subject matter of the conference and its value to the development of Guyana’s economy, The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators is keen to have all of the stakeholders involved in the training and conference.
